Just because I am silent
they think I am sleeping –
those men who come

on their delirious white horses
who think they can wake me
with a kiss.

But this is bliss
to feign the sleep of the dead
on my bed of damask and lace.

I am in love
with these silent walls
with the secret of my breathing.

What makes them think
I am a bed or roses?
My head is filled with thorns.

Doar pentru ca tac
ei cred ca dorm –
oamenii care vin-

pe caii lor albi, frenetici
si care cred ca ma pot trezi
cu un sarut.

Dar e o binecuvantare
sa ma prefac ca-mi dorm somnul de veci
pe patul meu de dantela si damasc.

M-am indragostit
de acesti pereti tacuti
de secretul suflarii mele.

Ce-i face sa creada
ca sunt un pat de trandafiri?
Capul mi-e plin de spini.
