Just because I am silent
they think I am sleeping –
those men who come

on their delirious white horses
who think they can wake me
with a kiss.

But this is bliss
to feign the sleep of the dead
on my bed of damask and lace.

I am in love
with these silent walls
with the secret of my breathing.

What makes them think
I am a bed or roses?
My head is filled with thorns.

Doar pentru ca sunt tacut
ei cred ca dorm-
acei barbati ce vin

pe freneticii lor cai albi
care cred ca doar cu-un sarut
ma pot trezi.

Dar este-o fericire
sa te prefaci ca somnul tau e-al celor morti
pe patul meu din damasc si dantela.

Sunt indragostit
de-acesti pereti tacuti
de secretul respiratiei mele.

Oare ce-I face sa creada
ca sunt un pat sau trandafiri?
Capul imi e plin de spini.
