Doamna Reis
 

Pe strazile lui De Chirico
am trait o frumoasa poveste
de dragoste: eram doamna Reis
si, gratie iubirii, paream, in sfarsit,
misterioasa, lumea era multumita (ca si de iubirea
mea pentru domnul Reis), stiam sa port palarii,
apoi sa conduc munca pe plantatii,
dupa ce am ramas vaduva, si, mai ales,
sa intruchipez, aievea, pe muteste,
visul lui Platon, Kant, Meister Eckart,
Rumi, Kabir, Shankara. Treceam
prin arsita orasului, ma salutau toti
cu palaria pana n pamant, n avea
nimeni habar de stigmatele mele.
Si savuram doar eu topirea lor ca zapada,
izvorul scurs in abisul meu primavaratic.
Se mirau de ochii mei,
eram o bogatie a locului, ca randunelele.
Voi, care vociferati in legatura
cu diferenta dintre fiinte, cu neasemanarea
dintre barbat si femeie, nu uitati
nicio clipa de doamna Reis !

Mrs. Reis

On the streets of De Chirico
I experienced a beautiful love-story:
I was Mrs.Reis
and,thanks to love,I seemed,finally,
mysterious,people were pleased(as of my love
for Mr.Reis),I knew how to wear hats,
then how to run the business on plantations,
after I had become a widow,and,especially,
to embody,forever,in silence,
the dream of Plato,Kant,Meister Eckart,
Rumi,Kabir,Shankara.I would
go through the heat of the city, everybody would greet me
by taking off their hats to the ground, nobody
had any notion whatsoever of my stigmata.
And it was only I who relished their melting like that of snow,
the water-souce draining off into my spring-like abyss.
They would wonder at my eyes,
I was a treasure of the place, just like the swallows.
You, the ones who argue
about the difference between beings,
about the dissimilarity between man and woman,
do not for a moment
forget about Mrs.Reis!
