SUNGLASSES

HERE IS SOMETHING that really suits us! Few of our habits become our customs more than the habit of wearing sunglasses. And we have all the excuses: our sensitive eyes cannot stand the light strength; the sun is violent, painful, and capable of killing with its intensity. It hurts us, and all we do is to defend ourselves. Of course, it gives us life too, but the excess is tiring and intolerable. The sunglasses with filter lenses solve everything so decently.
Decently and especially full of wisdom. We couldn’t live without sun, the sun is too big for us, so we have learned to take from it only the small part that we need. The sunglasses know so well what to choose. They always keep enough light not only to see but to see sweeter.
The outlines seen through them seem more round and the colours softer, nothing stays raw and annoying, and everything is shaped by milder laws than those of nature. The sun itself can be seen through the sunglasses and his harmless flame globe can be studied with friendly condescendence and with the slight amazement that it might have seemed dangerous and violent. Otherwise anytime, at the smallest daring of light, the lenses smoke could be intensified. And it is actually intensified continuously because we have to confess that, the saviors, the ingenious glasses have also a minor disadvantage: we grow out of light, our eye’s endurance at sun decreases by and by. The dark lenses have to be always changed with other lenses, much darker, the rays that could be tolerated easily have to be stopped from their way, and from smoke to more smoke, our fragile eye is closing slowly over the retina, which not tolerating the sun, ends up forgetting that the sun even exists. Ends up forgetting the divine joy of facing the violent light, while from the tensely open eyes, the tears pour free like, from two wounds, the blood.
