Last


Late summer, and the last of daylight
grows more precious: it’s as if by gazing at the sky
you could somehow bear the sunset’s weight,
keep back the dark that comes so quickly
 

and, scattering the ashes in the field at dusk
you don’t look down at the earth where they fall
but keep your eyes fixed on the sky,
the last of the light, its yellow so pale.

Cea din urma


Vara tarzie si ultima raza de soare
devine din ce in ce mai valoroasa : e ca si cum atunci cand privesti sper cer
ai putea prelua greutatea apusului,
si tine la distanta intunericul care se lasa rapid


Si, imprastiind cenusa pe camp pe inserat
nu te uiti in jos sper locul unde cad
ci continui sa privesti spre cer
spre ultima raza de lumina atat de slaba.
