Troglodytes

We have stayed in the cave since then.
We can't count the moons we have seen.
We have starved but we are pure.
We have been parched.
Ice, we scavenged at night under
a blue moon to wet our lips.

Once strangers visited.
We took their news, their food, their lives.
We know what we know and
their news was all lies.

One of us went away to discover.
They never returned.
One of us went away to discover.
When they returned and told us
we killed them.

Now no-one leaves nor arrives.
We sit, wrapped in our skins for comfort,
watch the horizon for movement,
debating whether we might attack or retreat.

We are not afraid, but we fear.

Trogloditi

De atunci am ramas in pestera.
Am pierdut sirul lunilor pe care le-am vazut.
Am fost infometati, dar am ramas puri.
Am fost insetati.
Gheata, am vanat-o noarptea sub
luna albastra ca se ne umezim buzele.

Candva niste straini au venit la noi.
Le-am luat vestile, si hrana, si viata.
Noi stim ce stim si
vestile lor erau doar minciuni.

Unii dintre noi au plecat sa afle
Si nu s-au mai intors
Unii dintre noi au plecat sa afle.
Cand s-au intors si ne-au spus
i-am ucis.

Nimeni nu vine sau pleaca.
Noi stam infasurati in blanurile noastre unde e bine,
Scrutam orizontul dupa semne de miscare
Sfatuindu-ne daca ar trebui sa atacam sau sa ne retragem.

Nu ne este frica, dar ne temem.
